Flu shots work by triggering the growth of antibodies, which defend the immune system from the seasonal influenza virus and other sources of infection. Because the influenza virus is constantly evolving, it’s important to be vaccinated every year. Each year’s vaccine is formulated according to the specific strains that researchers believe will be prominent in the upcoming season.

Everyone – including young, healthy adults – should speak with a physician about receiving flu shots. That’s because people of all ages can contract the flu virus, which can cause days of unpleasant symptoms like fever, muscle aches, body chills, and congestion. However, if you are over the age of 65, are pregnant, or have recently given birth, it is especially important to receive a flu shot, as you may be more susceptible to contracting the flu virus.

Stop by Marque Urgent Care in Aliso Viejo, CA, at your convenience to be vaccinated against the flu. Patients receiving flu shots are in and out quickly, but if you would like to expedite your visit even further, be sure to take advantage of our easy online check-in system.
